A QR code generator that makes codes people can actually scan

Design a QR code in seconds, see a live scannability check before you download, and export it as PNG, SVG or print-ready PDF. Everything runs privately in your browser — your link, Wi-Fi password or contact details never touch a server.

Private by design Unlimited codes Never expires SVG & PDF export

A real, working example. Point your camera at it.

Nothing is uploaded Codes are built in your browser. Open DevTools and check the network tab — no payload is ever sent.
No expiry, ever Your content is encoded in the pattern itself. There is no middleman service that can shut off your code.
Scannability checked Contrast, margin, density and logo coverage are verified against the QR standard before download.
Print-grade files True-vector SVG and 2048 px PNG exports stay sharp on business cards, posters and packaging.

The generator

Build your code

Pick what the code should do, fill in the details, then style it. The preview and the scannability report update as you type.

1 · What should the code do?

Tip: a short link produces a simpler pattern, which scans faster from further away.

2 · Style it

Colour presets
Module shape

Both styles keep every module fully inside its cell, which is what keeps a code readable on cheap phone cameras.

Code colour
Background
Fine-tune shapes, eyes and margins

Higher levels make a denser pattern but survive scratches, glare and logos.

Add your logo
Add a logo PNG or SVG, square works best

Everything above runs locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored on a server.

Saved on this device

Stored locally

Three steps

From idea to printed code

No account, no credit card, no email address. Just the tool.

Choose what it does

Link to a page, share Wi-Fi, save a contact card, open a map, add a calendar event or start a WhatsApp chat. Eleven types, all free.

Style it and check it

Add your colours, shapes and logo. QRMint runs a live scannability test on contrast, margin, density and logo coverage — and tells you plainly if something is risky.

Download and use it

Take a PNG for screens, a true-vector SVG for a printer, or a ready-to-print PDF. Test it once with a phone, then put it anywhere.

Why QRMint

Most QR generators make money by holding your code hostage. We don't.

Here is exactly how this site works, so you can decide whether to trust it with your business card.

Your code cannot be switched off

Plenty of free services generate a code that points at their short domain, not your content. The code keeps working while you pay or while their servers stay up. Stop paying and your printed posters become dead pixels overnight.

QRMint does the opposite: the destination is baked into the pattern itself. Once you have downloaded the file, no company — including this one — can change, redirect, expire or revoke it. That is the whole point of the QR standard, and it is why we never ask you to create an account.

Your secrets stay on your device

A QR code for a Wi-Fi network contains the network password in plain form, and a contact-card code contains your personal details. Sending those to a stranger's server so it can hand the same data straight back would be absurd — so we don't.

The entire generator is a single-page application. Encoding happens in JavaScript in your browser tab. Open your browser's network inspector and watch: the payload never leaves the page. We cannot leak what we never receive.

Honest, visible quality checks

A QR code that looks beautiful and fails to scan is worse than an ugly one that works. Before you can download, QRMint measures the luminance contrast between your colours, checks the quiet-zone margin against the four-module minimum in ISO/IEC 18004, assesses how much of the symbol your logo hides, and flags dense patterns that need a bigger print size. When something is genuinely unsafe, the export buttons lock until you fix it.

Advertising stays on this website

QRMint is funded by display advertising. That is the entire business model: we show a small number of clearly-labelled adverts to visitors, and in return every feature of the generator is free, unlimited and without a watermark. No premium tier, no paywalled SVG exports, no "trial" countdown. Read the full explanation.

Ads never touch your codes

Advertising appears on the QRMint site only — never in, on or around a code you create. Your download holds exactly what you typed: no advert, no tracking, no redirect. Because every code is a plain static file with no server in the middle, there is simply no mechanism by which an advert could ever be added to it. Your codes are always free and always ad-free.

Capabilities

Everything you need, nothing you have to pay for

Instant, live preview

Every keystroke re-renders the code and re-runs the safety checks, so you never download a surprise.

Full design control

Gradients, rounded or square modules, circular corner shapes, transparent backgrounds and your own logo. See what stays safe to scan.

True vector SVG

Scale it to a billboard without a single soft edge. Ideal for offset printing and design software.

Nothing transmitted

Wi-Fi passwords and personal details are encoded in-tab. No analytics script ever sees your content.

Standards-based checks

Margins and error-correction budgets follow ISO/IEC 18004, the same standard scanners implement. Why codes fail to scan.

Eleven code types

Links, text, Wi-Fi, contacts, email, calls, SMS, WhatsApp, maps, events and Bitcoin payments. Choose the right type.

Questions

Straight answers

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes, and not in a "free for 14 days" way. Every code type, every design option and every export format is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many you create. The site is paid for by the adverts you can see labelled on the page. See how QRMint is funded.

Do my QR codes expire or stop working?

No. Your content is encoded into the pattern itself, so there is no redirect service in the middle and nothing to renew. A code printed today will still resolve in ten years, provided the destination it points to still exists. If you delete your website, of course, the code will lead nowhere — that part is up to you.

Can I use a QRMint code commercially?

Yes. Codes you generate here can be used in commercial work — menus, packaging, business cards, vehicle wraps, paid advertising. There is no attribution requirement and no licence fee. Be aware that "QR Code" is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE, but the standard itself is free to use; using the symbol is fine, using the phrase in a product name is not.

Why won't my QR code scan?

Nine times out of ten it is one of four things: too little contrast between the code and its background, no clear margin around it, a logo that covers more of the symbol than the error-correction level can repair, or a print size so small that the modules blur together. QRMint checks all four as you design and blocks the download when something is genuinely unsafe. For the full diagnostic, read why QR codes fail to scan.

What size should I print a QR code at?

A reliable rule is the 10:1 ratio — the code's width should be at least one tenth of the distance from which it will be scanned. For a table tent read at 30 cm, that means roughly 3 cm wide. For a poster read across a room at 3 m, at least 30 cm. Add more size for dense codes, which carry longer content.

Should I use a dynamic QR code instead?

Dynamic codes route through a short URL, which lets you change the destination later and count scans — genuinely useful for a large campaign. The trade-offs are real though: the code depends on someone else's server staying online and paid for, it usually needs a subscription, and the code itself carries less of your actual content. For anything printed once and used for years, a static code like the ones here is the safer choice.

Can I add my logo without breaking the code?

Yes, and QRMint enforces the rule that protects you: logos require error-correction level H, which allows about 30% of the symbol to be lost and still recovered. The logo is capped so it never hides more than that budget allows, and you get a warning as you approach the limit. Keep the logo under a quarter of the code's area and test the printed result with two different phones before ordering 5,000 business cards.

Are the codes safe to use offline or in areas with no internet?

Generating a code needs no internet at all — the whole engine is downloaded with the page. Scanning a Wi-Fi or contact code also works without a connection, because the data lives in the pattern. Only codes that point at a web address obviously need connectivity to fetch that page.
